In October 2006 the Eastside Rangers Airsoft Team formed a Special Forces branch.  These are players committed to a twice a month training schedule: 1 indoor practice a month, 1 outdoor practice a month, accumulating 12 hours of intense practice monthly.  They are separated from the regular team in terms of command structure, but are officially a part of the Eastside Rangers Airsoft.  The goal of the Specops squad is to heighten our airsoft skills to a new level of combat and teamwork.  As such we train for the worst so we're prepared for the rest.  As with the regular team, we often train against unwinnable odds to refine our play tactics and push our games to new levels of intensity.

During given practices, the Specops team practices CQC combat maneuvers and techniques, hostage rescue situations, infiltration, extraction, room clearing, all while focusing on individual targeting and cover skills.  This is in addition to field practice teaching standard scenario skills.

Additionally, many members talk about learning skills for added realism, though not necessarily applicable to airsoft per say.  These include rappelling, diving, parachuting, orienteering, first-aid, and survival training.

Requirements for joining the specops team:

  1. Commitment to the team practices (twice a month).  More than 1 absence in three months is ground for removal unless relevant reason can be provided

  2. Commitment to physical conditioning.

  3. Commitment to stand and die by your comrades.

  4. Minimum 6 months on team OR by special appeal to the C2

  5. Purchase within 2 months a full set of black BDU's.

No more than 10 members are a part of the specops team at any given time.
